Since the demise of Brightons’ premier rock venue, the Hungry Years, there have been a number of small rock clubs that have come and gone. The latest rock venue, aptly titled Brighton Rock at Hove Town Hall, is to be held in the Grand Hall (off Church Road, Hove). It has a capacity of nearly 900 and has a balcony and 2 bars. The venue is serviced by both bus and taxi. The music selection encompasses the Classic/Heavy Rock format playing everything from AC/DC to Zeppelin including the very best from the 70’s to the current day. The event will have an 8kw sound system with smoke and pyrotechnics. DJ ‘Slim Boy Fat’ (work that one out for yourselves!) says, " we our aim to make this an entertaining upmarket event with a touch of humour….watch this space!…." The event takes place on the first Saturday of each month (excluding Januarys and November 2004), 10 pm to 2 am Admission is £8 for non-members & £6 with membership. Please check their web site for special dates such as Halloween. Brighton Rock also have Rock Nights in Bournemouth, again check their web site for details. |
